After a shortened newscast, the guest were introduced and discussion began.  Bishop Tina Robison of The Point Church in Smyrna and Associate Pastor Elois Freeman of West wood Baptist Church Center in Nashville.

Nashville Mayoral Candidates - Swain and Briley

This aired live on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at 5:00pm (cdt) There are 10-candidates running for Mayor of Nashville.  Each of them have been given 25-minutes on my show to discuss the issues of the day and how to fix some of the cities biggest problems.  

This is the final interview of the 10 interview segments with candidates.  Carol Swain was first up.  She ran for the position in the last election and was considered as one of four front runners.  

Incumbent David Briley was next.  He is having a tough race this time.   

The Myth of a Post-Racial America

This show was broadcast live on Wednesday July 24, 2019 at 4:00pm (cdt) The drive time edition of my show features a News from the Community segment at the beginning which could be local or national.

I enjoyed this discussion with political scientists Angie Maxwell and Todd Shields, co-authors of The Long Southern Strategy: How Chasing White Voters in the South Changed American Politics.  The authors takes a broad view of the Southern Strategy of the Republican Party and illustrates how 40 years of partisan polarization have influenced not just the region but the nation

Angie Maxwell is the Director of the Diane D. Blair Center of Southern Politics and Society, an associate professor of political science, and holder of the Diane D. Blair Endowed Professorship in Southern Studies at the University of Arkansas.

Todd Shields is the Dean of the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences and a professor of political science at the University of Arkansas.

So You Want to Be Nashville's Next Mayor?" Candidate interviews (#4 of 5)

This was recorded live on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at 5:00pm (cdt).  There are 10-candidates seeking to be Nashville's next Mayor.  This week's interviews with the candidates included Jon Sewell (he ran during the last mayor's race ) and Nolan Starnes.  

How to Stop Sabotaging Yourself

This show aired live on Wednesday Jul 17, 2019 at 4pm, (cdt)  I started with the News from Rev. Dr. Judy Cummings on an upcoming clinic on expungement to get voting rights back, followed by the book "Stop Doing That Sh*%!" by best-selling author Gary John Bishop.  

Artist of the Week Interviews - Vivian Sessoms

The WFSK weekly feature was developed by Sharon Kay in 2006 to help stay up on the latest in from smooth & contemporary jazz music and artists. To date more than 550 interviews have been conducted under the banner of WFSK Artist of the Week".

Jazz vocalists Vivian Sessoms was featured on Thursday June 6, 2019.  This broadcast was recorded live at 12:30pm (cst).   She has performed, either live or in the studio, with an amazing array of artists including: P. Diddy, Michael Jackson, Donna Summer, Sinead O Connor, and Stevie Wonder to name a small few. "Songs in the Key of Life" was he project we spoke about.  

 

Isaac Byrd - WFSK Artist of the Week

WFSK's weekly feature is very popular amongst our listeners.  Artist of the Week is on Thursday's from 12:00 to 1:00pm (cst) and includes an interview with the week's recording artist.

His first time in our spotlight Isaac is an emerging talent, playing what he has branded as “the sultry trumpet like no other”, the versatile, multi-talented Jacksonville, FL based artist.  We discussed his "Come Fly With Me" Cd project among other topics.   

Feels Like Sunday Morning...Comments and News, Etc.

This show was broadcast live on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at 7:00am (cdt) and includes open phones, news headlines , issues of the day and of course comments on various topics.  

 

It generally includes myself and my show's producer, The X-Man.  Sometimes we agree and sometimes I tell him he's wrong on that.....(lol) 

The Pursuit of Optimum Happiness

This was broadcast live on Sunday July 14, 2019 at 8am (cdt) with the guest Errol Garner, researcher and author.  He's back to continue our discussion from 2018 on what happiness is and how to attain it. 

He and his wife Marjorie authored the Discovering Your Optimum Happiness Index (OHI).  The interview contains discussion on transformational holistic characteristic's impacting the: spiritual, moral, social, intellectual, and physical in human beings.

Joey, Joey, Joey.  Musician extraordinaire organists and producer Joey De Francesco was WFSK Artist of the Week for the week of June 27 2019. This is his artist interview.   

The Sunday Edition: Rev. Gary Emas

This show aired live on Sunday, Rev. Gary Emas of Chicago-based Evangelists and author discussed his book El Elyon: Fact or Fiction.  This was a spirted discussion for sure when the subject came to today's Christians and the community of faith.
