Communiy News & this Hour's Book Leading Loyalty (aired on 4/25/19)

This show aired live on Wednesday, April 25, 2019 at 4pm (cst).  As usual I started my show with my News from the Community Segment.  We heard about The Tennessee Supreme Court designation of April as the third annual HELP4TN Days, a time dedicated to bringing free legal resources to Tennesseans in need. Throughout the month of April, more than 100 free legal clinics will be held throughout the state, and online and phone-based legal services will be offered to residents who cannot make it to a legal clinic.  

Representing that service in-studio was Anne-Louise Wirthlin, ADM. Office of the TN. Supreme court and Kirsten Jacobson, of the Tennessee Alliance For Legal Services.  Both of the ladies are attorneys.  

Then, best-selling author and thought leader Sandy Rogers discussed his latest book :Leading Loyalty: Cracking the Code to Customer Devotion.  This was an interesting discussion about customer service and helping businesses to thrive through how they treat their customers.

This show was recorded live on Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019 from at 7am to 9am.  The 411 Show's Annual Resurrection Sunday broadcast included Reverends Geno and Corine Gardner of Generation Now Church in Murfreesboro and Rev. Valencia Jordan of Phillips Chapel CME Church.  We covered alot of territory during the 2-hour broadcast.

This show is the 2nd hour of a live broadcast on Palm Sunday, April 14, 2019 at 7am to 9am.  In-studio guests were: Rev. Nakita Cummings of Joshua House Ministries, Lady Shaquinta Johnson of Impacting Life Ministries and Lay Phi Phi Leveque of 1st Haitian Baptist Church.

This show was broadcast live on Palm Sunday, April 14, 2019 at 7am to 9am.  In-studio guests were: Rev. Nakita Cummings of Joshua House Ministries, Lady Shaquinta Johnson of Impacting Life Ministries and Lay Phi Phi Leveque of 1st Haitian Baptist Church.  Part 2 is on the next hour.   

Metro Nashville Schools Director Dr. Shawn Joseph

Dr. Joseph is Nashville's first Black Public Schools Director and has been under constant attacks by some School Board Members, and several members of the media since he first landed the job.  That discussion is a part of this conversation.  

Artist of the Week Interviews (Jazmin Ghent)

This interview aired on Thursday March 14, 2019 Saxophonists Jazmin Ghent was in the spotlight was in the spotlight from March 9 to March 14, 2019  for new her new release: "The Story of Jaz". 

She just won the NAACP Image Award for best Jazz album on March 30, 2019.  She talks about the nomination in this interview which aired 2-weeks before.

WFSK Artist of the Week Interviews (Nelson Rangell)

Sharon Kay, GM at WFSK created a weekly feature on the station called "Artist of the Week" in 2006. 50 weeks a year the spotlight is on a new album release in smooth and contemporary jazz.  For the week of 3/16 to 3/21/19 saxophonists Nelson Rangell's latest "In Light" was featured.  This is his interview only. 

Creating Sustained Happiness

This show aired on March 27, 2019 at 5pm (cst)  Jane Wyker, family counselor and author gives tips and encouragement from her 46-year inner journey in her new book "Soul Selfish: The Awakening of a "Good Girl".  Jane defines happiness and what it means to find it and encourages you to honor yourself.  She shares how one should find happiness frm within and not to expect it to come from others.  

Community News then the Book "America's Unholy Ghosts"

This show aired live on March 27, 2019 at 4:00pm. (cst)  Sarah Imrah with the Metro Human Relations Commission shares details on a forum on poverty, homelessness, the need for more affordable housing and the growth that has been taking place in Nashville.  Book discussion for this hour is with preacher, activists and writer Joel Goza on his newly released book "America's Unholy Ghosts: The Racist Roots of Faith & Politics". 

This was a great conversation on the intersection of racism in faith and politics. 

News from the Community and the Memoir of a Former Black Panther

This show aired live on Wednesday March 20, 2019 at 4pm (cst).  Dr. Paul Kwami, director of the Fisk Jubilee Singers gives information on an upcoming performance for the Singers with India Aria, then Kimberly Cox Marshall discusses her dad's memoir "Just Another Nigger".  The book tells the story of Don Cox work as the party's field marshall. In his never told memoir Cox's account of his years in the Black Panther where he would be inducted into the central command.  He founded the party's San Fransisco office.   

There is no shortage of details on panther activities from gunrunning to planning armed attacks to his disillusionment with Huey P. Newton's Leadership. Don Cox died in 2011 in Algiers.
