My guest was former Nashville Mayor Bill Purcell he was one of Nashville's most popular mayors (in my opinion). He served as the fifth mayor of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, elected first in 1999 and reelected to a second term in 2003 with a record setting 84.8 percent of the vote. During those years as the head of the city he was a regular guest on my show. It was really good to see him

My guest for the next portion of the show was Councilman Freddie O'Connell, Dist. 19 which happens to cover the area where Fisk University & WFSK are, as well as downtown and other gentrified neighborhoods nearby the downtown area. The Councilman has been on my show several times before in the past and just recently won his 2nd term.

This show aired live on Wednesday, 10-23-19 at 4:00pm (cdt) from the studios of WFSK. As usual I started with my Community News Segment, then welcome in the guest and topic for the hour. Attorney Mel Fowler Green, executive director of the Metro Human Relations Commission (MHRC) making her first appearance on my show since getting the position 3-years ago.
Among the many issues we discussed were the much talked about getting cameras on Metro Nashville Police Officers and why its taking so long, the new Community Oversight Board which the citizens voting into effect, constant foot-dragging that appears to be happening when it come to issues with the police department and the community concern about this city's 2 police involved shootings.
MHRC's core mission is to protect and promote the personal dignity, peace, safety, security, health, and general welfare of all people in Nashville and Davidson County.
We also took calls and had a little time to discuss out city's affordable housing disparity. She will be back in about 4 to 6 weeks to further this discussion.
