This is hour 2 of a show broadcasts live on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at 5:00 pm Nashville's growing issues of injustice and  the need to reform our cities police dept as the conversation plays out around the world.  The hour was started with the closing comments from the prior hour's guest Councilman Freddie O'Connell. My guest for the full hour was Community Oversight Board Member and Director of Black Votes Matter Timothy Hughes. 

These were great conversations.  

 

Legislative Update with Senator Brenda Gilmore - 6-10-20

This hour was recorded from my live broadcast on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at 4:00pm and covers many of the days top stories involving racial tensions, Confederate statues at the Capital, protests, etc.  Senator Gilmore recently sponsored some legislation to get the bust of Nathan Bedfor Forrest out of the Statehouse.  

It was voted down by the Republican led Legislature. 

Also included in this hour was a conversation with with Metro Councilman Freddie O'Connell.  He is 1 of the 14 Council members who are calling on the Nashville Police Chief Steve Anderson to step down amid his lack of confidence from a range of members of the community on the need to stop police brutality and make reforms.

This is WFSK's radio's weekly feature with a spotlight on brand new releases.  Hit maker jazz crowd favorite saxophonist and producer Boney James was in the spotlight for the interview with Sharon Kay.  Kay started the Artist of the Week feature at WFSK in 2006.  His new release is entitled "SOlid".

This show was recorded from a live broadcast on Sunday morning at 8:00 am(cst) on WFSK in Nashville.  The guest was attorney, political strategist and author Justin Giboney of Atlanta. 

He is co founder of the AND Campaign and author of the next book Compassion & Conviction.  This was a great discussion.    

Mother's Day with Dr. Barbara L. Peacock on her New Book - 5-10-20

The show was recorded live on Sunday, May 10 2020. The guest was Dr. Barbara L. Peacock,  She's a spiritual director, author, teacher, preacher and is the founder of Barbara L. Peacock Ministries, a ministry committed to developing disciples through prayer, spiritual direction, soul care, mentoring, and teaching.

We discussed her new book Soul Care in African American Practice as it applied to mother's and women's roles.  This was a wonderful interview.  

Feels Like Sunday Morning...Mother's Day 5-10-20

This show was recorded live on WFSK Sunday, May 10, 2020 at 7:00am (cst)  Basic chatter and best wishes and love to all the mom's out there this 2020.  During the hour I talked to X's mom (he produces my show for me) in Athens, Georgia.  Up until 2016 both of our mom's would give advice, my mom passed on October 13, 2015, she is resting in Heaven!  In honor of her Mrs. Fern L. Williams mommy   

Artist of the Week Interview with Freddie Fox - 05/14/20

Talented recording artist Freddie Fox who won a GRAMMY for rhythm guitar on the "George Benson & Al Jarreau "Givin' It Up"(2006) Concord Records.  Here his fancy work on  (I r on “Morning” & “Ordinary People”.  He is road manager and husband to  Evelyn “Champagne” King 1993 -2020. 

We had a great conversation on his new release "Limitless".  

Artist of the Week Interview with Ronny Smith - 03/12/20

The spotlight fell on Grammy considered guitarist Ronny Smith this week.  He left University of Maryland as a music education major to pursue the life as a guitarist and a U.S. Army Bandsman. He toured extensively throughout the United States, Europe and South America.  

We discussed his latest release "Raise the Roof".  

Artist of the Week Interview with Steve Laury - 10/19/19

Steve Laury is a contemporary jazz guitarist, arranger, composer, producer and national recording artist. He primarily recorded in the Contemporary Jazz format and produced five very successful solo albums. Many of you may remember when he was a member of Fattburger from back in the day.
