WFSK's weekly feature Artist of the Week this week put the spotlight on singer, songwriter, bassists and producer Chris Walker. His new release pays tribute to the legacy of Al Jarreau, We're In he Love Together.
He was Jarreau’s bassist and featured vocalist for over 20 years, co-produced the album with Larry Williams, who was Jarreau’s keyboardist. he album features a stellar line-up of artists who came together to honor the seven-time Grammy winner from the jazz, R&B and gospel worlds including Regina Belle, Dave Koz, Will Downing, Gerald Albright, Rick Braun, Kirk Whalum, Arturo Sandoval and David Foster among others.
The album is reminiscent of Jarreau’s own tribute album to his long-time friend, George Duke.
He was excellent!

My book author for the show was Nicholas Buccola author of numerous books, we discussed his latest The Fire Is Upon Us: James Baldwin, William F. Buckley Jr., and the Debate over Race in America. It describes how the clash between the civil rights firebrand and the father of modern conservatism continues to illuminate America's racial divide.
He is the Chair in Political Science and Founding Director of the Frederick Douglas Forum on Law, Rights, and Justice at Linfield College in Oregon.

Hill, Ph.D. former Vice Chancellor at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine who was instrumental in the development of the Meharry Vanderbilt Alliance (MVA) 20-years ago. MVA develops and supports collaborative initiatives. It has provided opportunities for collaboration between Meharry Medical College and Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and for collaboration with projects in the community.
My guest Robert M. Hardaway discussed his new book Saving the Electoral College He says the 2016 election caused many pundits and citizens alike to decry the Electoral College. This book explains the dangerous and unconstitutional implications of the National Popular Vote Bill, which is quietly passing in state houses across the nation.
Hardaway is a professor of law at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law where he teaches evidence and civil procedure and election law. He is the author of numerous law review articles and books on the Electoral College and election law.

My guest was former Nashville Mayor Bill Purcell he was one of Nashville's most popular mayors (in my opinion). He served as the fifth mayor of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, elected first in 1999 and reelected to a second term in 2003 with a record setting 84.8 percent of the vote. During those years as the head of the city he was a regular guest on my show. It was really good to see him
