It was pure joy to chat with pianist, organist, composer, drummer and arranger Matthew Whitaker. Blind since the age of 11 his gifting has been requested for performances around the world. Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles would be delighted to work with him.
Only 19, he's played piano since he was 3 and thrilled everyone who heard him and amazed his parents and all who marveled at his talent its no wonder Matthew is referred to as a prodigy. Among so much we talked about was his latest album called "Now Hear This".

He returned to discuss his latest book Begin Again: James Baldwin's America And Its Urgent Lessons For Our Own and share insights on racial unrest, the upcoming election and the leading news headlines as they relate to James Baldwin's journey and views on life.
In 2017 Dr. Glaude was on the 411 Show to discuss his book Democracy In Black. It was indeed good to chat with the Professor again.

Flutist Alexander Zonjic has a brand new release entitled "Playing It Forward". We discussed what he's been up to since this is his first release in 10-years.
It was so good to chat with him and find out he's all good. We go back a long way on tis station and I greatly appreciate and respect his chops. WFSK not only has most of his releases in the station collection, but carried his radio show for many years when it was being produced weekly. We discussed what he's been up to since this is his first release in 10-years. The Detroit resident credits legendary musician Bob James is to who gave him a break many years ago and added Alexander as member of his band.

This hour Ron Wynn a WFSK volunteer and longtime station talk show gives details about a restored film being shown virtually by the Belcourt Theater on Jazz.
My guest was Hannibal Johnson author of Black Wall Street 100--An American City Grapples With Its Historical Racial Trauma." It was good to have him back on my show after 10-years when his original interview was conducted. He's a very respected expert on Tulsa, Black Wall Street and its rich and tragic history. As an author, attorney & Consultant it was good to catch up with him to get latest development on that region as they relate to the 100th anniversary of the Tulsa Massacre.
His first interview man years ago was on his book Black Wall Street–From Riot to Renaissance in Tulsa’s Historic Greenwood District; Up From the Ashes.

Edward Hill, JR of Holy Ground Missionary Baptist Church and Rev. David G. Lattimore of 15th Avenue Baptist Church.
Among the topics discussed are: racial and ethnic difference between the two-sides of Nashville these churches are in Rev. Hill's in in South Nashville and Rev. Lattimore is in North Nashville both have African American neighborhoods and businesses.
This was interesting in the discussion around demographics, historical perspective on the areas as they relate to gentrification, the double crisis we dealt with and are still dealing with i.e. deadly tornado, the pandemic, watching God work through all of that and much we have to be thankful for.
